“An Ace Says PASS to Hazards” – the 13th Safety Week starts on May 11!
Every day on a construction site brings different challenges. Weather conditions change, work pace shifts, surroundings evolve, and people, equipment, and situations often become unpredictable. Time pressure, routine, and the belief that “nothing will happen” can reduce the alertness of even the most experienced workers. That is why, next Monday, May 11, SEEN Technologie will launch the 13th Safety Week – an initiative reminding us that safety starts with conscious decisions, everyday awareness, and the right reactions.
The symbolic beginning of this year’s activities was the Safety Day in Płock, which we co-organized.
This year’s Safety Week is held under the slogan: “An Ace Says PASS to Hazards.” An ace of safety is anyone who reacts to hazards, cares for their own health and life as well as that of their co-workers, and has the courage to say “STOP” when a situation becomes dangerous. Because safety on a construction site does not depend solely on procedures or equipment – it is created above all by people and their decisions.
Why PAS? The main theme of this year’s campaign is no coincidence. PAS is a symbol of protection, safety, and responsibility. It accompanies us every day in many situations that we often treat as ordinary elements of work, although in reality they are crucial for protecting health and life.
These include:
✔ seat belts in vehicles and machinery,
✔ chin straps on helmets,
✔ harnesses and safety straps for working at heights,
✔ reflective straps improving visibility,
✔ transport straps securing loads.
Each of these elements serves a specific purpose and very often determines whether an employee returns home safely.
This year’s Safety Week also highlights cognitive biases and mechanisms that cause us to underestimate risks. “It’s only for a moment,” “We always do it this way,” “Nothing will happen” – this way of thinking can lead to dangerous situations and accidents.
That is why it is so important to:
✔ stay alert,
✔ respond to hazards,
✔ never ignore unsafe behavior,
✔ set an example for others,
✔ work together to build a culture of safety.
As part of the 13th Safety Week, numerous companies are carrying out educational initiatives and activities promoting best practices in occupational safety and HSE culture. This year’s edition places particular emphasis on a practical approach to hazard identification and on the responsibility of every participant in the construction process for their own safety and the safety of others.
For years, the Agreement for Safety in Construction has demonstrated that only cooperation, education, and shared responsibility can genuinely improve safety standards on construction sites. At SEEN Technologie, safety remains one of the most important elements of our daily work.
Be a safety ACE and say PAS to hazards!
