How Does Wastewater Become a Resource? The Economy of the Future Discussed at Blue Deal Congress 2026

Water security, resource efficiency, and industrial transformation are among Europe’s most pressing economic challenges today. Rising energy costs, climate change, and increasing pressure on natural resources are driving companies to seek new operating models based on the circular economy and intelligent process management.

These topics were at the heart of discussions during Blue Deal Congress 2026, held on 16 June at The Tides in Warsaw. The event brought together representatives of business, public administration, financial institutions, and experts focused on the future of water management and industry.

One of the key themes of the congress was the evolving approach to industrial wastewater. Increasingly, it is being viewed not as waste requiring disposal, but as a valuable source of resources including process water, energy, and raw materials that can be recovered and reused in production processes.

During the Innovation Block, Dr. Eng. Bogusław Buczak, Proxy and Director of the Process Engineering Department at SEEN Technologie, delivered a presentation titled “Wastewater or Resources? A Source of Energy and Process Water. ASOS® – Digital Transformation and Industry 4.0.” The presentation focused on practical implementation examples demonstrating how modern technologies support resource recovery and improve the efficiency of industrial processes.

The solutions presented confirmed that the circular economy is no longer merely a development direction driven by environmental regulations. Increasingly, it is becoming an integral part of corporate business strategies, enabling companies to reduce operating costs, enhance the security of utility supplies, and strengthen organizational resilience in the face of changing market conditions.

Digitalization also plays a crucial role in this transformation. Systems that leverage process data, mathematical modeling, and optimization algorithms to support operational decision-making are gaining increasing importance. One example is the ASOS® system, which enables real-time monitoring and optimization of technological processes, fully aligned with the principles of Industry 4.0.

Blue Deal Congress 2026 demonstrated that issues related to water management, resource recovery, and digital transformation are becoming key pillars of competitiveness in modern industry.
