Gliwice District Heating Company with a new sewage treatment plant from SEEN Technologies

22 March 2023

A new investment that will provide the highest level of industrial wastewater treatment was presented on March 21 at a ceremonial conference at the headquarters of the Gliwice Heat Energy Company.

The event was attended by President Adam Neumann, First Deputy Mayor Mariusz Śpiewok, Second Deputy Mayor Aleksandra Wysocka, Chairman of the City Council Marek Pszonak, Head of the Ownership Supervision Department Agnieszka Leszczyńska, as well as Gliwice Councilors, representatives of municipal companies, and representatives of the SEEN Technologies company, which implemented the above-mentioned investment - Dariusz Jasak and Krzysztof Pacierpnik.

Equipped with modern and fully automated technological nodes, the sewage treatment plant will contribute to maintaining high quality of surface water ecosystems, and in the future will become part of the Green Energy Park.

The new installation was created as a result of the modernization of the industrial wastewater treatment plant that previously operated on the premises of PEC.

The work began in 2020, due to the obsolescence and low efficiency of the technologies used in the existing wastewater treatment plant at that time, which carried the risk of not being able to achieve the legally required wastewater treatment standards in the future. This is an extremely important installation in terms of reducing the impact of heat production on the local natural environment.

The environmental expectations towards systemic heat suppliers are constantly increasing, and I can proudly say that we are meeting them with high ambitions. The commissioning of a modern installation aligns with our sustainable development goals, which in this case involve the company's care for the water environment," emphasized Krzysztof Szaliński, the president of PEC-Gliwice Sp. z o.o. The upgraded purification plant has been equipped with fully automated technological nodes, such as heavy metal removal nodes, sulfate precipitation nodes, sewage recarbonization using CO2, and final filtration. The use of modern technologies will allow the plant to operate in a completely safe manner, meeting the most rigorous environmental standards.
