Our installation has been recognized!
During the tenth technical conference titled 'Maintenance of Operations - diagnostics, repairs, upgrades' in Kazimierz Dolny, Krakowski Holding Komunalny was honored with a prestigious award in the 'Modernization of the Year 2023' competition for the construction of a waste heat recovery system (UOC) carried out by SEEN Technologie.
This installation was put into operation in April 2023. Since then, it effectively recovers heat that was previously released into the atmosphere along with steam and exhaust gases. Thanks to it, heat production has increased without an increase in the amount of waste burned.
The main component of the waste heat recovery system from flue gases at the Krakow plant are two-stage scrubbers, located in the fan hall. The first part of the scrubber, known as the cooler, is used for the initial processing of the flue gases. At this stage, the flue gases are preliminarily cooled to around 70°C and also cleaned of impurities. The gases then pass to the condenser, where further cooling to a temperature of about 45°C and moisture condensation occur. This process is made possible by circulating the working fluid between the condenser tank and the structural filling. The heat obtained from condensation is then transferred through plate heat exchangers to the Krakow city district heating system.
If we compare the amount of energy recovered from flue gases at the Krakow eco-incinerator to producing the same amount by a conventional coal power plant, it would require emitting approximately 26 thousand tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere annually.
As the General Contractor of the installation, we are proud of the recognition awarded to our Client. It confirms the high quality of our work and commitment to implementing projects that not only bring economic benefits but also environmental benefits.
