Disinfection
The purpose of water disinfection is to destroy both living and spore-forming forms of microorganisms and to prevent their secondary development in the water treatment and distribution system. This is an important process due to the water quality requirements for consumers regarding drinking water and maintaining sanitary safety. Disinfection can be carried out using physical methods (e.g., UV radiation) as well as chemical methods, most commonly by dosing chlorine compounds into the water.
