Scope of work

The scope of work included the implementation of ozonation and filtration processes using activated carbon at the Central Waterworks Plant in Warsaw. The task was one of the largest investments in water quality improvement planned by the Municipal Water and Sewage Company. The consortium of SEEN Technologies, Mostostal Warszawa, and Energotechnika was responsible not only for the construction of new facilities but also for the development of construction and executive projects, obtaining building permits, and, upon completion of work, occupancy permits. The construction of the activated carbon and ozonation filters building was preceded by the dismantling of the VII group of slow filters, which had not been used for years due to poor technical condition.

The new facility was located at the intersection of Filtrowa and Raszyńska streets.
Its total area is 12.5 thousand m3.

The modernization of the Central Waterworks Plant allowed for the complete elimination of chlorine, which was previously used in the water disinfection process. The new technology guarantees not only a better taste of water but also an improvement in its odor.

The equipment is capable of purifying approximately 240 thousand m3 of water per day.

The project was 62% funded by the European Cohesion Fund.
